What exactly is one referring to when one uses the term hosting? According to Wikipedia:

Web hosts are companies that provide space on a server owned or leased for use by clients, as well as providing Internet connectivity, typically in a data center. Web hosts can also provide data center space and connectivity to the Internet for other servers located in their data center, called colocation, also known as Housing in Latin America or France.’
In layman terms, it is simply a way for your newly created website to have life. Without a host to make your content come alive, it is dead to the world, aka ‘WWW-world wide web’.

I will do a simple review on a few of these companies in order to help you choose the one that is best for you.  There are a few points that I will use as a basis to help you choose –

• price/value – naturally, price is usually the foremost thing on your mind – how does this cost work with your budget. Of course, not only your budget but what you get for the price being offered.
• speed or bandwidth – this is very important when it comes to the type of online business that you have, i.e. the amount of potential viewers accessing your site. It is important to know that your host can handle the traffic without it crashing or being over-loaded
• frequent updates aka keeping up with technology
• support
• spam protection
• features
• uptime
