Can You Think Of The Greatest Marketing Mistakes That You May Have Made?
I know you know that no one is perfect and that it is ok to make a few mistakes, however, can you think of any of these greatest marketing mistakes that you are guilty of? Or maybe know of someone? Well, let’s do things a bit differently. Let’s take a closer look at some mistakes we need to avoid.
Not Using Social Media Is Just One Mistake You May Be Making
Not another article on marketing, we hear you sigh. That’s your first mistake right there. You need to pay attention to the subject, as your business won’t get by without it.
Yes, we know you are busy, but you shouldn’t lose focus on your marketing tactics, and if there is advice online to help you, then you should take the time to read it. Not reading about the subject is only one mistake, however. Here are some of the other marketing mistakes you may be making:
1. Not Marketing At All
Marketing is time-consuming, and it can eat into your bank balance, but skipping it altogether is a big no-no. How will people find out about you if you don’t make the effort?
If you really don’t have the time to focus your energies on it, hire a marketing agency such as CandidSky. Alternatively, hire a specific team within your staff to get the job done for you.
2. You Spam Your Customers
A good marketing strategy is to remind people that you still exist. Sending previous customers the occasional email newsletter or promo is a very good idea. However, if you spam them on a weekly basis, you are going to get their guards up.
Your messages will end up in their junk filter, and you will never hear from them again. Therefore, time your messages, and make sure the information you send is relevant to them, in order to maintain their interest.
3. Marketing To Everyone
You are wasting your time if you try and target every demographic. It will save you a lot of time if you can narrow down your efforts. Who is your perfect customer? What is it about your product that will appeal to them? Do you have competitors with a large share of a particular market?
Find out who your potential demographic is, and do what you can to appeal to them. If you do appeal to a wide market, then great! However, tailor your marketing approach to each target group, instead of going for the ‘one size fits all’ mentality.
4. Not Focussing On Your Website
You may have heard your website is your biggest marketing tool, so chances are you have already thrown something together. Great, well done! However, you need to keep it updated with relevant and engaging content and make it visually appealing to those who take the time to visit your site.
If you don’t have the time or skill to create a decent website, outsource to web design companies and freelance writers to give your site the visual pizzazz and creativity it needs to convert your visitors into paying customers.
5. Not Being Creative With Your Marketing Strategy
Last but by no means the least of the greatest marketing mistakes is the ability to succeed and rise above the competition – you do need to think outside the box from time to time. Having a website and advertising in local media is fine, but there are so many other ways you can enhance your marketing strategy.
In fact, there are 101 ideas listed here, so pick out the best of the bunch for your company. Marketing does take time, but if you start to see a profit, it is obviously time well spent.
